Okay- so I admit it.. I went out of my territory today to check out a Broker's Open; not like it was in an area that I wouldn't LOVE to list and sell in. Rancho Santa Fe is one of the high end areas of San Diego County. Near the Del Mar beaches and huge, country size lots (this one on 2.87 acres). But let me tell you what got me there. The listing agent had Million Dollar Listing (BravoTV) agents there! Josh Flagg and Josh Altman were down from Beverly Hills to shmooze with RSF agents at a newly built MONSTROSITY of a home. Catered by Ruby's diner... UCK.. slimy sliders and soggy greasy fries- But enough of that and back to the reason I went. I am thinking .. How did this agent pull this off?? Seems the seller had the connections to get the two Joshs at his Broker's Open. I asked the listing agent what the results were looking like and she said turn out to see the property was WAY over normal (not too much info freely given; but hey.. What a great idea right!!?)
I do have to say though- with as much creativity and forethought this owner (builder?) had.. he didn't use it on the house. The exterior was SPECTACULAR! Gorgeous landscaping- Fabulous pool and spa, great outdoor spaces with outdoor fireplace and bar area. But the inside.. not so much. Serious as a heart attack- The master bathroom is bigger than the kitchen!!! WHAT was the designer thinking?? The house was cut up with huge bedrooms, bathrooms and closets everywhere.. but what happened with the puney little kitchen kind of closed off in the center of the house with this massive sky box set about 20 ft high in the ceiling over the center island of the same size.. Strange indeed. Take that with the styling that didn't quite fit.. tuscan, castle, early midevil..??? Stone flooring pretty much everywhere, heavy dark wood beams in super high ceilings with these huge boxed in sky lights scattered throughout, with these massive wrought iron hanging chandeliers with fake candle lights sticking our of the tops of them. I will be watching to see if the gimmick of the Million Dollar Listing agents sold this $6,495,000 monstrosity, and be wishing I had the connections for gimmicks like this for some of my listings. GREAT idea! and don't get me wrong- it was a fun time and I thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous yards and pool.
